The Baltic Exchange Handysize Index (BHSI) is a daily average calculated from the reports of an independant international board of Panellists. These Panellists are required to make a daily assessment on a basket of timecharter and voyage routes in the dry bulk shipping market representative of Handysize vessels.

The Baltic Dry Index, a measure of the cost of transporting commodities, plunged to a record amid signs of slowing economic growth in China that’s also hurting the nation’s stock market. The Handysize sector continued to make gains this week, which led to the Baltic Handysize Index (BHSI) recording its biggest improvement since the beginning of the year. Higher rates have been reported from key markets, particularly in the Atlantic Basin. Meanwhile, the Pacific market has remained active, with positive sentiment lending support.
